• Dr. Mohammed Seghir Nili, director of BABDA laboratory, received the key and the seal of the laboratory located at the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences, El Oued University, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, by Professor Omar Farhati, the University’s Rector who was accompanied by the Vice President of the University for Post-Graduation and Scientific Research, Pr. Mansour Boubaker and the Dean of the Faculty, Pr. Ali Djahra Boutlilis and representatives of the state’s forest directorate, in addition to a group of research professors.

This event was an occasion to present recommendations for the necessity of serious work for the advancement of the agricultural sector in the region by investing in modern biotechnology.

The Laboratory for Biodiversity and Application of Biotechnology in Agriculture Field (In French: Laboratoire de Biodiversité et l’Application de la Biotechnologie dans le Domaine Agricole, BABDA) is a scientific research laboratory located at the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences at Echahid Hamma Lakhdar University in El Oued, southeast of Algeria. It was established according to the ministerial decision N°: 148 of: 29 April 2020 and given the urgent need for scientific support for the development of the agricultural sector in our region, the laboratory provides a contribution to the development of agricultural products in terms of quantity and quality by:

  • Leading the biotransformation and its use in the agrifood or medical fields.
  • Providing a favorable place for graduate students, teachers and researchers to carry out their scientific researchs.
  • Activating participation in national and international research projects.
  • Creation of fruitful relationships with socioeconomic partners.
  • Establishing joint cooperation relationships with relevant scientific and research bodies at the national and international levels.
